New music video from Cam’ron entitled “Funeral,” directed by BLACKPRO.

Even though the 5 year anniversary of the late great King of Pop was yesterday, I unfortunately was unable to post. with that being said even though this is a hip hop blog, i pay my respects to where respect is due. RIP always to the KING, Michael Jackson. This music video is not only one of my favorite songs from the king, but one of my favorite music videos. “Remember The Time,” was off of MJ’s “Dangerous” album which was released in 1992. The writers and producers of the song were MJ himself, Bernard Belle and Teddy Riley. The music video was directed by John Singleton and features celebrity appearances by Eddie Murphy, Magic Johnson and super model Iman. The video was set in ancient Egypt and features an all African-American dance segment. With that being said, RIP to a creative and innovative genius who was was ahead of his time, Mr, Michael Jackson. You are surely missed.

One more hitta from the late great legend, 2Pac Shakur feat. Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman, “California Love.” One of my allllll time favorites. I remember it was one of the first songs I fell in love with when I first got a taste of Pac at a young age. Love this classic! Came out December of ’95 after he was released from prison (as usual lol) and was his first single from him after signing with Death Row Records. RIP and Happy Birthday to Mr. Thug Life himself, Tupac Shakur!

Man…..this man has influenced my life in more ways than one without me ever meeting him or even being alive for too long (i was born in ’92 , Pac died in ’96) and i was captivated by this poet just being a little kid. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR. In honor of this legend’s birthday, here’s a classic “I Ain’t Mad At Cha.” This joint was off his “All Eyez on Me,” album and was released after his death even though the album came out 7 months prior to his untimely passing. 2Pac would have been 43 years old today. We miss you Makaveli ! But God had a better plan, and we ain’t mad at cha.! RIP !

AND FINALLY, (long list of Gemini’s geeze!) my last birthday s/o goes to MY HUSBAND (yes because in my mind he is my husband, we have a dog named Blue, and a white picket fence over seeing Atlanta with a butler named Jeeves) MR. ANDRE 3000! Here’s one of my personal favorite verses/collabs from him with UGK and Big Boi, the classic, “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You.)” (i was going to put up his classic “Roses” from “The Love Below,” BUT i wanted to show off his lyricism =p) Words CANNOT express how much I love this man’s talent. He OOZES it. Been in love with OutKast since i was a lil tyke running around tryna be grown listening to my brother’s OutKast albums, and loved him even more when he started working on his solo shxt. Happy 39th birthday Andre Lauren Benjamin and RIP PIMP C!

SO, today we celebrate the late, great Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’s birthday, BUT I’m a total JACK ASS for not recognizing another legend’s birthday which was yesterday, May 26th, Miss Lauryn Hill! Happy belated Miss Hill ! To honor her, here is one of my personal favorites from the EAST ORANGE, NJ NATIVE, “Doo Wop (That Thing),” off of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” Miss Hill just turned 39. To many more ! (and please, for the love of hip hop, come back…seriously.)

soooo, in honor of Ms. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’s birthday, I’ve got to honor one of my favorite emcees by playing one of her hits with fellow girl group TLC, “No Scrubs.” She always came with a dope verse to accompany the songstresses T-Boz and Chilli whenever they put out new material. she would have been 43 years old today. RIP gorgeous ! Enjoy kids and take note that this was REAL RAP.

So in honor of throwback thursday, I’ve got to continue to show my love for the west coast by putting up this classic from NWA’s Ice Cube, “It Was A Good Day.” The classic hit was released February of ’93 from Cube’s album “The Predator.” The joint samples the Isley Brother’s melodic classic, “Footsteps in the Dark,” and the video was directed by F. Gary Gray. It peaked at the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 78 and is still to this day, a classic, smooth joint. Enjoy folks, happy Thursday.

SO, in honor of the Notorious B.I.G.’s 42nd birthday, I gotta post one of his classics, “Sky’s The Limit” featuring 112. Gotta continue to dream BIG folks….listen to the message kids! Enjoy and again, Happy Birthday BIG! RIP.
